Lapka Charity uniting all shelters and adopters

Created a minimum product for launch and testing with potential users, including a full UI and UX design cycle.

Product

A platform to support a community all over Ukraine that integrates all shelters with the ability to meet, adopt and help homeless pets to find their new family.

User problems

The adoption process is time-consuming and confusing, so people tend to drop off the whole process before finishing.

Business problem

Animal shelters often face significant challenges due to limited budgets and insufficient funding, which can make it difficult to provide the necessary care for animals. Additionally, many shelters struggle to accommodate as many animals as possible due to a lack of publicity.

Business goal

Create a platform to help people navigate through the whole process of adoption as well as collaborate with vendors providing a diverse range of services and supplies for animals.

Solution

Simplifying meeting with pet

As a first iteration, we've decided to focus on adopters and their ability to book a meeting with a potential furry family member - appointment booking flow

Solution

Establishing brand identity

Created a unique and recognizable brand image to set apart in the market.

outcome

Creating end-to-end website design with time and budget constraints

I managed the project's strategy, focusing on researching the field by conducting interviews with key industry stakeholders and prioritizing tasks for success to create a minimum viable flow for a successful launch.

User research key findings

  • shelters lack resources as people and stuff to keep everything organized

  • people want a more easy way of searching for a pet

  • people truly would like to adopt a pet from a shelter

  • the process is really confusing

How might we?

  • How might we design a process of setting an appointment with a pet and shelter?

  • How might we simplify the adoption process?

  • How might we help users find better matches?

User Flow

In this draft, I was mainly focused on the adopter's user flow and processes for them:

  • finding a pet

  • setting up a meeting with a pet in the shelter

learnings

Tight deadlines and limited funds

Design systems & libraries

Using existing functionality saves time, allowing us to test our assumptions more quickly — saving time and resources that would have been spent on developing a new tool from scratch

learnings

Tight deadlines and limited funds

It takes a lot of time to achieve quality with budget constraints

Create website design without any additional funding for user research and testing. Launch the website in 3 month.

Volunteer projects always require dedication and often require working with extremely limited or no budgets.
